IRIS-SOAKED ATHENS LUXURY WEDDING ON ISLAND ART & TASTE
PURPLE-FUSED ISLAND ATHENS RIVIERA LUXURY WEDDING INSPIRED BY VAN-GOGH’S IRISES PAINTINGS
For us, at DePlanV a wedding should be (at least) two things, gorgeous and painterly. But as it happens this purple-fused Island Athens Riviera luxury wedding, inspired by Van-Gogh’s Irises paintings took “painterly” to a whole new dimension. It all began with our stunning bride, whose actual name is Iris. Her bloom of choice? You’ve guessed it “Iris” and her husband-to-be Christo’s ultimate wish? To make their wedding day an ode to his future wife.
We were simply thrilled with the idea to design an entire wedding concept based on the showy blossoms, that not only represent hope, faith, and deep affection but also long-lasting delight and wisdom (all of the key ingredients for a happy marriage). To create a truly magnificent floral display for our uber-elegant couple, we employed the charm of more purple-blue blossoms, tri-color delphiniums, wisteria, hydrangeas, and monkshood and paired them to Bengal roses, white freesias, pansies, astilbe, and white ball mums. The result was a lavish flower-soaked magazine-cover-worthy affair.
The couple’s theme began with their super-chic monogram designed by Bright White who crafted a blue embossed crest with the Iris ikon. The couple’s emblem decorated the entire papeterie, including the wedding favor boxes, as well as the dance floor printed matting by Tsaldaris Luxury Craft.
We love styling weddings over Island Art & Taste and wanted for our couple to make an impact right from the start. Both entrances were festooned with opulent floral garlands and wisteria installations, topped with orange light crystal chandelier spheres and pears. A mirror table welcomed the couple’s guest to sign on the wishbook corseted by chrome vases overflowing with purple stems.
For the couple’s tabletop design we went with massive burnished mirror tables and chandeliers while luscious floral arrangements were placed in the center among gold and silver candelabra topped with crystal glass votives. Gold rimmed antique chargers were topped with Rennaisance collection plates in pastel shades of blush and cloud blue and combed with natural linen, iridescent gold-rimmed glassware, and champagne-gold cutlery. Each guest received a petite Iris bouquet along with their special gifts.
There is hardly a luxurious wedding without a plush dessert display and we went all the way with confections. Iris & Christo’s candy display was placed on the manicured lawns in front of custom oil-painted canvases featuring Van Gogh’s greatest artworks, among them of course his proverbial Irises. It was all about playing with textures, and flavors based on butterscotch and meringue. Our fave? Ice-cream sticks covered in white chocolate and edible pansies, as well as custom cupcakes with our couple’s crest.
Now if you’ve been secretly (or openly) lusting after Netflix’s Bridgerton series, chances are you’ll find some serious Featherington inspo in this gorgeous Athens wedding!
